During the June 14, 2012 Austin City Council meeting, EnviroMedia was recognized
as one of Austin’s first Green Business Leaders, along with thirty other local
businesses. Mayor Lee Leffingwell greeted the Leaders and applauded their efforts
to create a more sustainable Austin. Over the past year, EnviroMedia worked with
the Office of Sustainability and some of the other green businesses to pilot the
program and help create a Green Business scorecard that will lead businesses along
a path to sustainability while they make choices that help the bottom line.
The Green Business Leader Program recognizes organizations that implement
efforts to become more sustainable through communications, energy, resource
management, water, transportation, healthy work environment and community
relations. Supporting this program wasn’t much of a stretch for EnviroMedia.
EnviroMedia was built on the principles of sustainability, and our core values
guide us to ways to reduce our impact on the environment that are fun, smart, and
innovative. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact, including:
biking to work and using car2go (a car sharing service) to get around town, finding
ways to lower our carbon footprint, and using the latest in sustainable printing and
production. Our commitment carries over to our client work. Through research and
evaluation, we will continue to identify new ways to implement our programs and
campaigns in ways that are economically smarter and better for the environment.
We encourage other Austin businesses to join in and become an Austin Green
Business Leader (http://www.austintexas.gov/department/austin-green-business-leaders).
