We are fans of the City of Houston’s “One Bin for All” proposal, a finalist for the Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Mayors Challenge, which is “designed to inspire America’s mayors to generate innovative ideas that solve major challenges and improve city life.”
One Bin for All means all trash goes into one container, and technology does the sorting. Pretty cool.
We launched EnviroMedia by launching America Recycles Day in 1997. But today, only about a third of our solid waste gets diverted from landfills via recycling. It’s time to renew America’s recycling efforts with a 21st-century idea like One Bin for All.
Please help by voting now for the City of Houston here, but if you’re reading this after the contest ends on March 6, watch the video anyway. Win or lose, Houston is moving forward with the idea.
