And the winner is … EnviroMedia.

The 2009 Austin ADDY awards was a night to remember for EnviroMedia and our client, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Tobacco Prevention and Control. 

This year, all of EnviroMedia’s seven ADDYs came from tobacco-related campaigns. EnviroMedia won Bronze ADDYs for both the DSHS Worth It Web site and the Yes You Can Quitline television spot, “Phone Power.” Not only have both done their magic with tobacco cessation and prevention (“Phone Power” increased calls to the American Cancer Society’s Quitline by approximately 300 percent in the first weekend it aired), but they also showcase the flair of creativity needed to grow our tobacco campaigns. In more success, our Spit It Out “Jackalope” television spot also received a silver ADDY.

The agency’s big winner of the night was also tobacco-related, from the Spit It Out smokeless tobacco prevention campaign. Two of the three Spit It Out radio ads won individual silver and gold ADDYs; the campaign, as a whole, won a gold ADDY; and then the full campaign was also named Best Of Show for all of radio this year. Radio is one of the most competitive ADDY categories, so we are very proud. But our real success comes from truly cutting through the clutter to reach our teen audience with creative and memorable messages.

Before we give our acceptance speech and thank our mother, our agent and junior high school art teachers, we want to thank our client for giving us the opportunity to work with them on such a meaningful cause: convincing people — young and old — to stop killing themselves by using tobacco (or better yet, to never start.)
