Thank you, Texas. "Don't Mess with Texas" has surpassed 25 other great advertising mantra's like Nike's "Just Do It" and Burger King's "Have It Your Way" to become America's Favorite Slogan. The Texas Department of Transportation's win culminated with a parade down New York City's Madison Avenue an a party in Times Square September 29. EnviroMedia has even more reasons to celebrate Don't Mess with Texas after landing its third consecutive contract since 1998 for the prestigious litter prevention campaign.
Thanks to the muscle of viral marketing coupled with powerful Texas pride, TxDOT's Don't Mess with Texas slogan blew away the high-profile competition by generating 407,000 votes in the Advertising Week competition sponsored by Yahoo! and USA Today. These results set a new record for the competition, more than doubling the previous record of 200,000 votes set by advertising icon Juan Valdez.
